IMPORTANT DETAILS FOR APPLICANTS TO KNOW

  • Ensure all application materials are submitted before the application deadline!

  • The application includes questions related to your educational history and your financial situation, as well as a short-response section.

  • We also require two letters of recommendation: one academic and one professional. We recommend contacting your references as soon as possible so they have time to complete your letter of recommendation. Your application will not be considered complete (and therefore will not be reviewed) until the letters of recommendation are submitted.

  • The application typically takes 2-5 hours to complete. You can save the application and come back to it as many times as you need to complete it, as long as you submit before the deadline.

Overall application process:

  • Throughout this process, the KEF will communicate with applicants via email to update them about where they are in the process and if anything is missing from their application. Please make sure you check your email regularly!
  • After applications are reviewed, the KEF will contact applicants to let them know if they will move on to the next stage: the virtual group interview.
  • After the group interview, finalists will move on to virtual individual interviews.
  • Those who pass the individual interviews will make up KLP Cohort 18!
  • These interviews are an essential part of the application process.

The Kaplan Leadership Program is a time-intensive program. Please refer to the ‘Program Benefits’ page of our website (under ‘Our Program’) to understand everything that the KLP provides. Please see below a description of the required programming for all KLP Scholars:

  • The exact date of orientation is TBD but will be in September/October 2024.
  • After orientation, KLP Scholars work intensively with the program through June 2025 – and the relationship and KEF support continues while Scholars are in their bachelor’s program (and beyond!).
  • During the intensive first year, KLP Scholars meet every Friday (mostly virtually) from 10am - 4pm.
  • There is a January intensive session where Scholars meet Monday-Friday from 10am - 4pm for 3 weeks during winter break (mostly virtually). This is when the majority of their transfer applications are completed.
  • Including the mandatory meeting times, Scholars spend 12-20 hours per week on their transfer applications and KLP-related leadership activities.
  • We know these commitments may seem intimidating – but we outline them here so that you can see what is necessary to invest in successfully transferring to a competitive four-year institution. We will be with you every step of the way, and we encourage you to embark on this journey with enthusiasm and dedication!
